"Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has conferred Dr. Shanker Raj Barsila, Assistant Professor at Faculty of Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Fisheries of Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) the prestigious "Young Science and Technology Award 2015 for his scientific contribution in yaks and their hybrids with cattle". Dr. Barsila observed the effects of pasture sites and altitude on metabolic, physiologic and behavioral differences in purebred yaks and their hybrids with cattle for the first time in Nepal. Findings were based on his PhD work done at ETH Zurich Switzerland".
